Your library and your DJ software
Your music lives in Apple Music and you organize in rekordbox
Mac only
You add your music to Apple Music and import it into rekordbox to build your playlists. When you upgrade a track or fix its details in Surco, you want rekordbox to pick it up on its own, without importing again and without losing playlists or cue points.
It only works on a Mac, because it goes through Apple Music.
Settings, just once
Open Surco's Settings (⌘ , on Mac) and find each option by its name.
SettingsOutputWhere converted tracks goApple Music
Tracks go to your Apple Music library, just like you do now.
SettingsFormatDefault formatAIFF
Apple Music doesn't take FLAC. AIFF sounds the same as WAV and keeps the artwork too.
SettingsOutputrekordbox collectionUpdate the rekordbox collection when convertingOn
This is what keeps rekordbox up to date. Without it, rekordbox would stay on the old details and the old file.
SettingsFormatKeep MP3 and M4A files as they areOnOptional
If a track is an MP3, it stays an MP3 instead of becoming an AIFF.
Then, each time
- 1
Close rekordbox
Surco doesn't write to your collection while rekordbox is open. If you forget, it offers to close it.
- 2
Drag the tracks into Surco
The ones you want to upgrade or fix. If one is already in your Apple Music, Surco recognizes it.
- 3
Fix whatever needs fixing
Title, artist, genre, anything. By hand or with auto-match.
- 4
Click the convert button
It's the button at the bottom of the editor. Apple Music and rekordbox catch up at the same time.
- In rekordbox the track stays in its playlists, with its cue points, BPM and key.
- rekordbox takes the title, artist, album, genre, label, remixer, comment, year, track and disc numbers and artwork.
- A field you leave empty in Surco never clears what you have in rekordbox. If the track has no artwork, rekordbox keeps its own.
