Take it with you

Get a USB stick ready for the club

You want to take a selection on a USB stick, with clear names and in a format any CDJ reads. Your files at home stay untouched.

Settings, just once

Open Surco's Settings (⌘ , on Mac) and find each option by its name.

  • SettingsOutputWhere converted tracks goOutput folder

Below it you can pick the folder. Pick your USB stick.

  • SettingsFormatDefault formatAIFF

Any CDJ reads it. If you're short on space, pick MP3 and set “MP3 quality” to 320.

  • SettingsNamingApply the pattern automaticallyOnOptional

Names each file from its details. The pattern is edited just above, and a / makes folders.

  • SettingsProcessingLoudness normalizationClub −9Optional

Brings every track to a similar loudness. To get there it sometimes limits the peaks and loses some punch.

Then, each time

  1. 1

    Plug in the USB stick

It has to be the same folder you picked in the settings.

  2. 2

    Drag the tracks into Surco

The ones in your selection, wherever you keep them.

  3. 3

    Click “Convert”

It's the button in the top bar. The copies go to the USB stick and the originals stay as they were.

  4. 4

    Eject the USB stick

From the Finder or File Explorer, before unplugging it.

  • Your files at home don't change. Everything Surco does goes to the copy on the USB stick.
  • When you use Surco for home again, remember to set the destination back in the settings.
