Tag and tidy up

Review a folder before it goes into your library

You downloaded a pack and want it to arrive clean, without the same artist spelled three ways and without repeated tracks.

It works on Mac and Windows.

Then, each time

  1. 1

    Drag the folder into Surco

If it finds different spellings or repeated tracks, it tells you, with a “Review” button.

  2. 2

    Open the review

With that button, or from the ⋯ menu in the list header, “Review metadata”.

  3. 3

Pick how each group should read

And which copy stays in each duplicate. Here each copy also shows its quality and size.

  4. 4

    Click “Apply”

The changes go to the files and, if the track is in Apple Music or your DJ apps, there too.

  • Possible typos never join on their own. You decide them.
  • Before touching anything, Surco keeps a copy of every file, and “Undo” reverts the fixes.
  • Copies you remove don't come back with “Undo”.
