Tag and tidy up
Clean up the titles of hundreds of tracks at once
Your titles carry “(Original Mix)”, the tag of the site you downloaded them from, or an underscore instead of a space. You want it gone from every track in one go.
Then, each time
- 1
Select the tracks
If you select none, every track you see in the list is used.
- 2
Open “Find & Replace”
With ⌘F, or Ctrl+F on Windows.
- 3
Type what to find and what to change it to
Leave “Replace with” empty to delete it. Surco tells you how many tracks change and shows examples of before and after.
- 4
Replace and save
Click “Replace in…”. The change isn't in the files until you click “Update tags” or “Convert”.
- It works on title, artist, album, genre, grouping, comment, label and other text fields.
- If you know regular expressions, tick “Regex”.
- If those tags only bother you when searching Discogs, add them in Settings › Search › “Words to ignore in searches”. They're dropped when searching, without touching your tags.
