Your library and your DJ software
Move your collection to AIFF without losing cue points
Your music is in FLAC or WAV and your DJ software or your CDJs prefer AIFF, which also keeps the artwork. You want to convert everything in one go and keep your cue points where they were.
The sound loses nothing. Going from FLAC or WAV to AIFF is lossless.
Settings, just once
Open Surco's Settings (⌘ , on Mac) and find each option by its name.
SettingsFormatDefault formatAIFF
Everything you convert comes out as AIFF.
SettingsFormatKeep MP3 and M4A files as they areOn
An MP3 gains no quality as an AIFF, it only takes more space. This leaves it as it is.
SettingsOutputWhere converted tracks goNext to the original
The AIFF is saved in the same folder and the original is left alone.
SettingsOutputrekordbox collectionUpdate the rekordbox collection when convertingOnOptional
If you use rekordbox. The track moves to the AIFF without leaving its playlists.
SettingsOutputTraktor collectionUpdate the Traktor collection when convertingOnOptional
If you use Traktor. Pick your collection.nml just below, and Traktor will see the cue points in the AIFF.
Then, each time
- 1
Close rekordbox and Traktor
Only if you use them. While they are open Surco can't touch their collections, and it offers to close them.
- 2
Drag the folder into Surco
Tracks in its subfolders come in too.
- 3
Click “Convert”
It's the button in the top bar. It converts every track in the list in one go.
- 4
Decide what to do with the originals
When it's done, Surco can move them all to the Trash at once. If you'd rather keep them, do nothing.
- Traktor cue points carry over to the AIFF from MP3, FLAC and WAV.
- ALAC has nowhere to keep cue points. That's why this recipe uses AIFF.
- Take any tracks that are already AIFF out of the list first. Otherwise Surco makes a second copy with “(2)” in the name.
